Update 19th October: Please note that the audio file has been revised, as indicated by "rev2" in the filename. (Apologies, in the previous update three days earlier an incorrect file was uploaded here.) One note has been changed, for the syllable "be" in "Wool-ston-be-ree". This is at 1m9s from the start. The score remains unchanged and corresponds to this revision.
For everybody who will be singing at Sullington in a few weeks' time (and of course anybody else who takes an interest in this!), here is a recording of Emily singing the first verse of Song of the Sussex Downsman.Download mp3

Beautifully sung Emilly
ReplyDeleteI heartily agree Dave, we are going to need to be very good at reproducing the poignancy of Emily's solo rendering in larger numbers, as we have found by featuring soloists/duos on specific songs in the shantie workshops with good effect. Wind and background noise in the open air luckily did not influence two singer backed solos outside the William Hardwicke yesterday, and inside at Sullington no problem.
