New SDFS blog header!

So .... do you like the new header to the blog?  Designed by a Jolly Nice Lady called Clare Mullineux, it replaces the well-used and well-loved original design introduced by the South Downs Songs Project all those years ago.  It will also be used on a new banner for us to display at events, leaving our enraptured audience in no doubt as to who we are!

Stationery and publicity will also carry the new design.

  1. The photograph of the Downs is lovely ( of course ) but the cartoon type singers don't really 'go' with the shot. Can we change the lyrics clip too?

    1. Fair enough. The design was mulled over at great length by your committee (it would have been less practicable to involve the whole membership) - and the lyrics clip was only changed three days ago!

    2. I know the lyrics clip has been changed ( I do read this blog, quite often ) and appreciate that involving the whole membership might have been impracticable but nonetheless couldn't it have been a bit more democratic ?

    3. This is the second lyrics clip to focus on the drinking aspect, isn't it?

  2. Yes, it is the second lyrics clip to focus on the drinking aspect. We have a strong connection with the ale - though I'm sure other topics will be featured in due course.

  3. Have to agree with Anonymous, the 'little green aliens' add nothing to the logo. They appear far too modern when we are a group singing traditional songs. The rest is delightful, though!

  4. We may have a 'strong connection with the ale' but other connections are stronger; I would guess that if you asked a random 10% of the membership what their 'favourite' song was, to sing or to hear, it wouldn't be one of the drinking ones

  5. Maybe better not to have a lyric clip that mentions East of Sussex (or West) specifically?

    1. Having said that, there isn't much else suitable is there! The only alternative line I could find as a suggestion was - "I am singing the best song ever was sung and it has a rousing chorus'

  6. I think that's a good choice, Leigh: I had it in mind to change it every few months in order to keep it fresh. I think farming, love and loss, and beer are legitimate subjects to be covered though, as many songs are on these topics.

Please can we change it more frequently? There is so much of what is sung that encapsulates everything the SDFS stands for that to limit the lyrics clip to a change every few months doesn't seem to cover it somehow. Gosh what a long sentence! Sorry
